What we can say with confidence
Class identity is one of the sequel’s main progression hooks. Hands-on coverage shows each standard class as a foundation for a role, while perks and modifiers change how that foundation plays. The Specialist then reuses unlocked options to create a custom marine.
Current official build (checked Sep 3, 2026): Patch 1 at launch still governs perk tooltip numbers. Hotfix #2 (Sep 2) is performance and crash only — shader stutter on first render, and a crash when receiving rewards from some containers. It does not change class roles. Hotfix #3 (Sep 29) changed no class or weapon numbers either: it fixed a replication bug that stopped weapons from dealing damage at all, incorrect starting ammo applied by attachments and perks, and a crash when a Companion Bot tried to revive you. The developer lists one known issue from it — a partial rollback that re-introduced the EVI-87 Zvezda overheat bug — and says the next major update is planned for late October, with a Horde Mode and a detailed roadmap to follow. The line this guide will not cross is equally important: if a value, drop, location, unlock threshold or balance conclusion is not supported by the current evidence, it is described as unknown or provisional rather than filled in from the first game.
That matters especially during launch week, when search results can mix official information, preview builds and copied speculation. The Last verified date and evidence badges at the top are part of the answer, not decoration.
Official facts versus hands-on evidence
Official-confirmed information comes from the publisher’s site or first-party storefronts. Hands-on tested means a previewer or developer-guided session visibly demonstrated the behavior before release. Neither label means the live game can never change: patches can alter balance and a preview build can differ from release.
When the page discusses a recommendation, read it as a decision framework. A recommendation becomes stronger only when the live build supports it across more than one encounter or difficulty. That is why this site avoids unsupported precision and records sources below the article.
How to make the class decision
For Aliens, begin with the problem your fireteam needs solved. The sequel is built for up to four players, so a class can be valuable because it controls space, keeps teammates standing, clears a swarm or removes a priority threat—not only because its personal damage number is high.
Then add progression. Perks and modifiers can reshape a standard class, and the Specialist later makes time spent across classes relevant. That means a class that feels simple at the start may open useful shared options later. Judge the whole progression path, not only the first mission.
Patch 1 class numbers (official)
These are publisher corrections, not community DPS charts.
| Class / perk | What Patch 1 says |
|---|---|
| Unyielding | Grants +50 health as the tooltip said, not +10 |
| Hard to Hit | 20% damage reduction, not the 100% it was granting |
| Bandolier I & II | Max ammo 5% → 9% |
| Hardened Nature | Now a core perk, not a Final Stand modifier; no longer applies at match start |
| Companion-bot perks | Targeting Data Link, Hardened Frame and Survival Protocol work again in multiplayer |
| Marauder Cryo Blast | Ability DPS 10 → 25 |
| Marauder Breaching Blast | Penetration/armor reduction 25%, not 50% |
| Machinist Hyperlocal Logistics | +10% regen, not +5 |
| Hunter Morale Surge | +2 temporary health on Special kills, not +5 |
| Medic | Bedside Manner / Doctor’s Orders client bugs fixed; Doctor’s Orders now affects the owner |
Duelist explosive-round perks lost their extra damage penalty on top of the existing headshot tradeoff; Residual Explosives’ 40% damage/stopping-power cut dropped to 15%. Machinist Gas/Cryo turrets and Marauder Thermal/Cryo Blast no longer run out of ammo.
Launch verification checklist
- Confirm the wording and values in the live UI before copying numbers.
- Reproduce an interaction more than once when it affects a recommendation.
- Note difficulty, class, weapon and relevant modifiers for balance-sensitive tests.
- Keep regional storefront facts separate from universal game mechanics.
- Mark player reports as player reports until they are independently reproduced.
This approach makes the guide slower to overclaim and faster to correct. If the final build contradicts a preview, the live build wins and the evidence label should change with it.
